Samsung, Yahoo Partner for Interactive TV Services

Samsung Electronics announced on 5 November that the company has established a multi-year partnership with Yahoo to bring the latter's interactive TV services to its 2012 smart TVs in the United States, according to Samsung's press release. The cooperation will deploy Yahoo's Broadcast Interactivity platform and connected TV technologies on Samsung's SyncPlus platform, allowing viewers to receive more real-time and interactive content when watching TV shows and commercials. With a touch of the remote control or other surrogates like a tablet or Smartphone, viewers are able to access complementary content such as trivia, more show insights, advertisements, or interactive games. Current TV programmers singed up to use the platform include Showtime Networks and National Geographic Channel.

In related news, Samsung also inked a deal with Amazon on 6 November for providing Amazon's video services on its smart TVs in the United States, as reported by the Korean Etnews.
